    ThruppPrimary School

    13th December

I am over the moon to be back at Thrupp. The welcome back that I received couldn't have been nicer. The pupils in Buzzards class are incredible and they impress me daily with their kindness, resilience and curiosity. I am a very lucky teacher.

10/12/21 - We are really getting into the Christmas Spirit in Buzzards! 🎅 🎄

08/12/21 - If you are looking for some reading inspiration during this festive period, have a look at this booklist from BookSpace - it contains lots of brilliant recommendations, with a summary of each text and the age range it is suitable for!

01/12/21 - Today we read a Christmas story, wrote amazing Word of the Week sentences and then created our own Snowman stories ☃️

01/12/21 - Our homework is amazing! Well done Buzzards for working so hard - these will be proudly displayed in the classroom soon!

Joel from Atlas sports led a brilliant well-being and yoga session for us today!

24/11/21 - In DT today, we made Egyptian pyramids using spaghetti, marshmallows and fruit sweets. We learnt that pyramids had square bases and always had a point facing towards the sky!

24/11/21 - This morning, we learnt all about Egyptian Pyramids. We designed our own pyramids and then thought about the items that we would have inside them - particularly things that are special to us!

22/11/21 - Our word of the week is 'spoil' - we shared an amazing range of expanded vocabulary in class, and then wrote some of our own sentences containing this word. We are amazing!

17/11/21 - Today we learnt about Online Safety and talked through lots of scenarios and examples of how to be safe online! 💻

One of our activities during theme week was to create some magical people...

Pupils have been using REAL papyrus to create these beautiful portraits.

They will be on display in our classroom.

In Science, we have been looking at the States of Matter:

We have been looking at the properties.

Today, we have been looking at changing a SOLID into a LIQUID using heat.

We investigated - 'which chocolate would melt first?'

    Milk Chocolate?

    White Chocolate?

    Dark Chocolate?

Our class has been looking at the death mask of Tutankhamun.

We used paper today.  Next time, we will use PAPYRUS!

Here we are working on our pictures:

Here we are our AMAZING finished PIECES OF ART:

Our class book, 'Different like me' links to the umbrellas around the school. The class are introduced to inspirational people from History who all excel in their own way, but find it difficult to fit in...

Tangrams are an ancient form of puzzle, first used in China.

Pupils had to come up with their own designs.

    Afterwards, we evaluated the process:

    • Did you argue and find it difficult to work together?
    • What did your group do that made it easier to work together?
    • Can you think of any other ideas that would help your group to cooperate?
    • How can disagreements be solved?
    • How does it feel to be working towards a goal with a group of people?

Today, we looked at Artefacts. WHAT IS AN ARTEFACT?

We generated a huge list of items that are artefacts. I was impressed with the pupils inventiveness.

We also watched this fascinating video on Ancient Egypt.

What can you find out about the Egyptians after watching this video?

On Wednesday, we held a school council vote. It was lovely to see democracy in action! Pupils presenting ideas, the class listening and voting to have their voices heard.

It was also fantastic listening to the pupils amazing ideas for making the school a better place and being brave to share those creative ideas. It has me very hopeful about the future!

Here are our NEW school council representatives:
