Week 8 - A visit from Santa, a Christmas party and a Christmas lunch. What a lovely last week we’ve had! Now time to enjoy some rest with our families.
Week 7 - Hawks have been having lots of Christmas fun this week including making gingerbread reindeers, making a super long paper chain and an elf hunt hosted by the PTA.
Week 6 - Our PTA snow treat!
Week 5 - We’ve been practising for our nativity this week and can’t wait to show you. We also have a new visitor in class called Jingles. We’re looking forward to seeing what he gets up to in December!
Week 4 - On Tuesday we had a visit from the fire service. We got to try on their protective clothing and have a look inside the fire engine.
We even got to have a go using their fire hose!
We also learnt about the ‘3 outs’ to help us in a fire. Ask a child in our class and they will be able to tell you the 3 outs (Be ready for shouting!).
Week 3 - We've been looking at the book Katie in London and discussing how we use the past tense. We have begun learning about the suffix 'ed' and how this changes the tense of a verb (doing word).
Week 2 - We started the week with our Fun Run to raise money for the PTA and for a defibrillator for Thrupp.
We were lucky enough to have a special performance from these two wonderful children and their Dad.
We have also been learning about Claude Monet and we re-created some of our own versions of his Houses of Parliament painting using pastels.
Week 1 - We had such a fun filled theme week creating boats, learning about the Arctic and the Antarctic, training like explorers and planning and doing our own experiments.
Week 5 - This week we got a bit messy with pastels! We recreated paintings of The Great Fire of London by mixing different colours to make a fire effect. End results are coming soon....
Week 4 - We were lucky to have a visit from Sammy’s Mum this week who is a photographer. She was showing us some of her recent photos from ‘Made in London’ which showed us lots of the different things that are made in London.
Week 4 - We’ve been continuing our topic on London and have begun going back in time. We talked about how long ago The Great Fire of London happened and begun comparing life in the present day to life in 1666.
Week 3 - We’ve continued looking at the book Claude in the city. We’ve been describing Sir Bobblysock and Claude using adjectives and expanded noun phrases.
Week 2 - We have begun to think about the different seasons. We have chosen a tree to observe throughout the year. We drew our first picture for September this week and we'll come back to see if it has changed in November.
Week 1 - We had a lovely week settling in and getting to know each other. We also started learning about different landmarks in London.
