Dare to be YOU by Matthew Syed was our focus for Friday. We read the first chapter and talked about our own 'Kid Doubt' that can sometimes stop us from doing things. We talked about how brilliant we all are and how we are all different which makes us all very special. We decided we need to be proud to be ourselves!
We watched the Greg James and Chris Smith event at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, which was promoting their new Kid Normal book. It inspired us to create our own superheroes. We then wrote superhero stories and had a lot of fun making our supervillains come alive!
We were inspired by the work of Oliver Jeffers, author and illustrator. We read his book 'An Alphabet of Stories' and created our own.
Here are some of the fantastic drawings and extracts of stories that we created.
We enjoyed watching Joseph Coelho sharing some of his performance poetry from his book Poems Aloud.
We had a go at performing our favourite poems and then writing our own.
Below are videos of some of us performing a selection of Joseph's poems in the different styles they were intended for.
