Snow Day 12.12.22
Dear Children (and Parents)
For one day, we are not setting Home Learning. Below are some ideas that you might want to select from. Be creative and maybe do something that no-one else will think of doing.
Perhaps you can write a Christmas poem, story or playscript. Retell the Nativity from the point of view of the donkey, the shepherd or a king. Do some Christmas crafts. Make up a word-search that you can bring into school. Challenge yourself: How many carols do you know? Can you sing a carol unaccompanied?
Remember, we were talking about being helpful for Advent. Can you do an act of kindness (or two) at home today? What traditions do different countries have at Christmas time? Do some research.
The younger children could paint a nativity scene. Could they design a snow animal and make it (a photo would be great). They could learn to make paper snowflakes and of course they have their phonic sounds to practice and their reading books.
Bring in and share any of the work that you do. Your teachers will enjoy sharing with you.
Look after yourselves, keep warm and enjoy the snow.
Mrs Mylechreest
***Congratulations***

Stroud Police RAINBOW COMPETITION
Calling all Primary School pupils in the Stroud & Stonehouse areas.
As some of you return to school and others continue home-schooling, we need your help! We want some bright and cheerful RAINBOWS for our glum windows, so…
IT’S COMPETITION TIME
Open the document below to find out more!
***Competition Winners!***
A huge well done and thank you to all children who submitted an entry to the Milliken Floor Mat competition. We are very pleased and super proud to say that Primrose (Buzzards) is a runner up and (drum roll.....) Amelia (Eagles) is the overall Winner!
Milliken are going to send us a mat of both wonderful designs that we can then use in school. They will also be included for sale in the company's brochure!
The winning designs are pictured below! Well done!
***Photography Competition Winners***
Thank you and well done for all of your entires. We had a lot of brilliant and very diverse entries, however the judges have narrowed it down to three overall winners.
The winners are as follows: (use the link below to view their photos in the slideshow)
First Place - Rosa North The deserted park (no 7)
A poignant image that feels 'empty', and sad. Almost apocalyptic!
A powerful storytelling image, suggesting loneliness, sadness at not being able to play, and well composed.
Second Place - Blythe Tucker - Family scene (no 32)
A great snapshot of 'family life in lockdown'. A great souvenir for years to come - a reminder of how tricky it's been for all parents (homeschooling!) and the juggle we have all tried hard to maintain...but also the fun times we've had with the kids at home.
This one echoes a lot of folks’ experience over lockdown, and adds a dose of humour, which is always a good thing when times are difficult!
Third Place - Martha Nutt - Blue Sky (no 6)
Simple but beautiful. I think a lot of us will remember the blue skies we had during lockdown: and thankful for them!
Wonderfully simple yet loaded image. No contrails - a source of hope for the future, and yet a visual metaphor for how we’re all so much further apart than we were. But at least the sun is shining!
A big ’THANK YOU’ to our judges - Martin Phelps, Carmel King, Michelle Grant and Emilie Sandy for giving up their time and for the feedback for the winners.
Virtual Sports Week.
A massive Well Done and Thank you, to everyone who took part, they have all been absolutely fabulous! Everyone has really impressed us with their enthusiasm, creativity, and determination with which they tackled the challenges (and given us so many chuckles and smiles)!
YOU ARE ALL SUPERSTARS!
A taster of what the (91!) children have achieved.... between them they have completed: 2488 squat thrusts, 2978 star sumps, 548 burpees, and held the plank for a combined time of 16 3/4 minutes!! Amazing!
Virtual Medals and Certificates will be awarded to everyone who took part!
A HUGE virtual round of applause to MRS BENDLE who has organised the week and has been collating all of your results that you have been sending in! Thank you!!
