Day 5: REFLECT
'Reflect' is about learning and growing, this is achieved by looking back at things that have happened...

Day 4: RESILIENCE
Buzzards found out about RESILIENCE.
This is the ability to bounce back in difficult circumstances. Or it is keeping going when faced with a problem.
Buzzards had to be resilient when designing our spaghetti and marshmallows towers:
Day 3: RELATE
In class, we looked at RELATE and how we can reach goals as a TEAM.

We looked at ants who work as a TEAM to achieve so much!
TEACHING A SKILL
On Wednesday, I was amazed by Buzzards Class!
There was a 'buzz' of activity as the pupils taught carefully planned activities. Their smiles were huge as they learnt new things or saw others gain new knowledge.
We completed a Scavenger Hunt working in pairs to be inventive!
Day 2 : ASPIRE
In class, we looked at ASPIRE and how we can reach goals!
One of the goals that we tried to drop an egg and protect it. The pupils did an amazing job at this:
Pupils looked at a range of famous Mythical Creatures; The Hydra.
They then created their own Mythical Creatures - take a look:
Day 1 : CURIOUS
We looked at being curious and how it is necessary for learning.
We also looked at the phrase 'curiosity killed the cat' and decided that we disagreed with it...We like being curious!
First, we were curious about Manga Art and tried to recreate it using the traditional features:
- Large eyes,
- Small nose,
- Small head
- Pointy chin
- Spiky hair (for boys)
- Coloured hair

First, we looked at the Gary the African Snail
Next, we looked at Filip the Hissing Cockroach.
After that, we looked at the Buttercup the Rose Tarantula.
Next, we looked at the Henry the Horse field Tortoise.
Finally, we looked at the Dali the Royal Python.

BACK TO SCHOOL!
Pupils have come back to school engaged and full of beans. It has been lovely seeing them smile.
On Monday, we created these AMAZING Shackleton pictures. We will finish them on Friday. Enjoy!
On Tuesday, we made the most of this BEAUTIFUL weather and went up in the local woods. Pupils had a fantastic time!

WORLD BOOK DAY
Today is World Book Day. We have asked the children to celebrate reading!
In our morning LIVE session (see photo above), pupils shared WHO they dressed up as and WHY.
Today, pupils may want to read in crazy places, make book marks, make books, design characters. We would like them to treasure reading.
There is also a Potato Character Competition. Here are the pupils creations:
In our afternoon LIVE session, pupils shared their favourite books. They said what they liked about it. It was lovely listening to the pupils.

ENGLISH
SHACKLETON'S JOURNEY
Pupils are looking at the story of Shackleton's Journey.
First, they made their own adverts they had to use persuasive features. Here they are:

HISTORY - ENGLISH
RACE FOR THE SOUTH POLE
First, we looked the Discovery Expedition led by Captain Scott. They journeyed to Antarctica to try and reach the South Pole.
Next, we looked the NIMROD Expedition led by Ernest Shackleton. They journeyed to Antarctica to try and reach the South Pole again. This time they got so much further than Scott. They were just 97 miles from the South Pole.
Ernest made the incredible decision to turn away for the sake of his men. He valued their lives.
We wrote as Ernest capturing HOW he felt:
After that, we looked the TERRA NOVA Expedition led by Captain Scott. They journeyed to Antarctica to try and reach the South Pole AGAIN.
Scott pushed his men hard to get to the Pole. Unfortunately, his team was beat by another explorer - Roald Amundsen.
Roald managed to find a route to the South Pole that shaved a month off their timings - hence they were able to beat Scott.
Disappointed, Scott's team of five men died on the return journey.

In RE we looked at Mosques and how Muslims pray. Pupils created their own prayer mats.

We looked at ways to be safe online.

DRAWING BAR CHARTS
Pupils looked at Bar Charts. They interpreted them and read them for info. Next, they had a go at drawing Bar Charts.
They needed:
- Ruler used
- Title
- Labelled Axis
- Bars are the same thickness
- Gaps around the bars

This week it is Children's Mental Health Week.
Today we looked at ways to strengthen our positive outlook.
Pupils then had the challenge to do something that made them happy. They shared their happy moments on Friday.

ENGLISH - READING COMPREHENSION
We looked at Matthew Henson. He is a famous explorer who didn't get the recognition he deserved but of the colour of his skin. We talked about HOW unfair this was.

We pretended that we were stuck on an island. We had to design a shelter and then write the instructions for those shelters.

RE - ISLAM - QU'RAN
Fist pupils found out how Allah has 99 names. Some of them were lovely and some of them weren't (humiliator). We discussed this.
We then looked at what our names mean.
Meryn did a poster to show what her name meant!

PORTRAIT DRAWING
We were going to do portraits of a very famous explorer. As a introduction we looked at some of then rules of portrait drawing. Pupils then drew these amazing pictures!
