17.03.20 Today we made mud huts and an African Village.
16.03.20 Today we learnt about how important it is to wash our hands. We watched what happened to pepper in water when we didn't have soap on our fingers and we then put soap on and watched the magic! We enjoyed cleaning the pretend hands with germs on too.
We compared Thrupp to Handa's village and thought about what lives here and what lives there. We looked at frogspawn from a pond in Thrupp.
IN geography we thought about what it is like to live in Handa's Kenyan village. We tried carrying things on our heads and we made an African village.
09.03.20 Today we made a fruit salad using all of the fruits in Handa's story.
09.03.20 This week we are enjoying the story 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne.
02.03.20 We loved dressing up as our favourite characters, can you guess who we are?
0.2.03.20 This afternoon Mini Grey taught us how to draw our own leaf character and a 'bad' bunny.
02.03.20 Today we celebrated World Book Day. We had an amazing time illustrating our doors with Hannah Shaw and hearing all about Unipiggle the unicorn pig!!
We loved our drumming workshop this week. Look at this cool conducting!
In maths during science week we are learning about time and also about size. Here we are timing how long it takes for ice to melt in hot and cold water and examining tiny insects with a microscope.
Some of us learnt about gravity and air resistance today. We made parachutes. Luckily, the one carrying the raw egg did work.
10.02.20 Today we were talking about the weather and winter. We explored Ice and then the Year 1s recorded what they had learnt on the learnpads.
05.02.20 The Year 1 children loved making fact files about the moon on the learn pads
Kestrels loved having a puppy to visit today.
We have had a dance teacher in school for a few weeks. Today there was a performance in assembly. Afterwards some Kestrels did some great dancing of their own.
The bulbs we planted in autumn are coming up.
We had a trumpet and saxophone gig today. We really loved the jazz improvisation and we improvised some dancing to go with the music.
20.01.20 In science today we learnt about sounds and then some children chose to make musical instruments. Then they described the sounds their instruments made.
The Canal and River Trust came to see us to teach us about water safety today.
14.01.20 In DT we made rockets with recycled objects. We also used the loose parts outside to make a giant group rocket.
13.01.20 This term our topic is called 'Whatever Next!' We will be going on many journeys, first stop - the moon! Then later in the term we will be going around our world. We have started the topic off by reading 'Whatever Next! by Jill Murphy. We have a space station in the class and we have all written lists of what we would take to the moon.
