    ThruppPrimary School

Summer Term 5 and Term 6

We enjoyed working with the PTA this afternoon on different art projects for the Party on the Field!

In History, we have been learning about the journey of the Mayflower and the first colony at Plimouth. We wrote diaries about the pilgrims’ journey to the New World in 1620.

Eagles have been celebrating the Platinum Jubilee this week as part of our whole school theme week. We enjoyed making fantastic hats for our Jubilee picnic!

We have started our Native American clay burial pots, watch this space for the final pieces...

We have been learning about Walter Raleigh and the first colony that he established in the USA on the island of Roanoke. In English, we are reading about the mysterious events that happened to this colony.

Coram Life Education ran a workshop for us called ‘It’s Great to be Me!’, which celebrated our unique selves as well as looking at the processes which keep our bodies working.

Here is a selection of the books currently being enjoyed by the children in Eagles!

To start our topic, we looked at the artefacts in a mystery chest to see what we could learn about who might have owned it. What do you think?

We have finished our Victorian rooms, complete with working lights!

Our topic this term is North America

This topic brings together History and Geography as we explore the continent of North America, focusing on the United States. We will be learning about the contrasts in physical and human geography, across the different states and some of the natural wonders which can be found in the USA.

We will be looking at the discovery of America and the first colonies, including exploring the mystery of the Roanoke Colony through our work in English. We will also be looking at the Native American culture which was displaced by European colonisation.

Walking Bus at 8.25am from the Burger Van Layby. We would love to see you there. It runs every day.
