Our Intent:

At Thrupp Primary School, we aim to foster and nurture a love of Art and Design as our children progress through the school. We hope to implement this through lessons with a rich cross-curricular approach, which engage and inspire all children.  

We believe that Art and Design enables children to develop their creativity, nurture their imagination and provides children with a variety of ways to express their thoughts, feelings and emotions. We strive to give all children the confidence to express themselves through the different mediums, techniques and skills.

We want our children to know how Art and Design has fundamentally contributed to our culture, identity, history and our understanding our world. Our children will learn about a range of key artists who have excelled in their area. They take inspiration from them to create their own artworks.

During their time at Thrupp Primary School, each child will have their own sketchbooks to design, practise and develop their skills and knowledge. This will evidence a progression of techniques throughout the school years.

Our curriculum aims to challenge and equip children with the knowledge and skills needed to experiment and create their own works of art.
