    ThruppPrimary School

Spring Term 3 and Term 4

Our topic this term is Victorian Stroud.

Our key question in History is What was happening in the UK when Thrupp School was built? We will be investigating various aspects of Victorian life in order to compare with life today including the mills, the arrival of the railway, and what life was like for children at this time.

Our key question in Geography is How is Stroud connected to the rest of the UK? We will be learning about the wider contexts of places in the UK e.g. county, region, country.

Eagles had a fantastic time at Sevington Victorian school, experiencing first hand what it would have been like to go to school in the Victorian era. After traditional lessons, the girls learnt sewing and housemaid skills, whilst the boys learnt about gardening and bee keeping. Luckily nobody was given the cane!

Mr Lui visited our school as part of our Chinese New Year celebrations. He taught Eagles some Chinese phrases and calligraphy. We made our own door scrolls and also tried jiang-zi, a Chinese game!

We began our topic by looking at photos of buildings in Stroud which were built during the Victorian era.

Thrupp Primary School and Nursery Open Day on Tuesday 22nd October from 9.30am - 11.30am. All new families welcome. Our Year 6 pupils will show you round. Please come and join us.
