    Autumn Term - Ancient Greece

This term Buzzards have been exploring Ancient Greece.

In term 1 we are focusing on history and our key question is - What were some of the Ancient Greeks' greatest achievements?

Our key knowledge (also known as sticky knowledge) is to know:

    • Ancient Greeks made important contributions to philosophy, mathematics, literature, astronomy, medicine, art and many other areas.

    • The first civilisations in Greece began around the year 2000 BCE and ended in 146 BCE.
    • Ancient Greece had no central government. People lived in city-states, known as ‘polis’.
    • Archimedes was a Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, astronomer and inventor.

We have thoroughly explored ancient Greece this term, from the birth of democracy, where we created our own debating chamber, to philosophical playground discussions and Archimedes' Eureka moment.

The children have produced some amazing homework!

From labyrinthine games, to tasty Greek morsels, and impressive temples their hard work and inventiveness is truly impressive.

In term 2 we are focusing on geography and our key question is - What makes Greece so special?
